Five senior executives in the charitable sector have been named as 2000 recipients of Muttart Fellowships. Each will leave their agency for one year to undertake a special project of interest and concern to the charitable sector.

Odette Dantzer is Manager of Family and Community Support Services at the Developmental Disabilities Resource Centre of Calgary, Alberta. In her Fellowship year, Ms. Dantzer developed a series of discussion papers which dealt with various topics relevant to individuals with disabilities and those who work with these individuals. She presented these papers at workshops in Calgary and elsewhere.

George Kelly is Executive Coordinator of the Edmonton Inner City Housing Society. Mr. Kelly researched broad-based community alliances and coalitions which seek to respond to issues of poverty, resource allocation, and community control.

Sherry McKibben is Executive Director of the HIV Network of Edmonton Society. Ms. McKibben’s work explored how the nonprofit voluntary charitable sector, and AIDS service organizations in particular, cope with systemic changes. In her work, she presents material, ideas, and examples of best practice that will help increase the understanding of the dynamics of change. She explores models of change management that various agencies in Canada and the U.S. have implemented, and documents the issues they have uncovered and the solutions they have achieved. Issues that AIDS service agencies in particular encounter are highlighted.
