Three senior managers of western-Canadian charities will receive fully paid sabbatical years after being named as recipients of 2005 Muttart Fellowships. Each will leave their agency for the year and undertake a special project of interest or concern to the charitable sector.

This year’s Fellows are:

David Sax, Executive Director, Catholic Family Services Society of Regina. Mr. Sax will develop an interactive learning experience for board members, staff and executive directors of not for profit organizations based on the format of a simulation game.

Patricia Turnbull, Executive Director, Canadian Mental Health - Central Region. Ms. Turnbull will conduct research into successful routes out of homelessness.

Denise Morrell, Manager, Human Resources, Developmental Disabilities Resource Centre of Calgary. Ms. Morrell will be conducting research into methods of linking the non-profit sector to Occupational Health & Safety legislation in manageable and less bureaucratic ways.

The Muttart Foundation will provide grants to the Fellows’ agencies to cover the costs of the salary and benefits of the Fellows while they are away. In addition, each Fellowship carries an award of up to $17,500 to cover expenses incurred while completing their projects.
Fellowships are awarded each year. For application rules, procedure, and deadlines, please refer to the Application Procedure page.
